Tad's in over his head!

His family is going on vacation at Club Lagoona - a brand-new resort and water park. His mom, his dad, and even his little sister Polly are excited. But Tad isn't. He's afraid of the water - and he should be.
Because there's something lurking beneath the surface of the club's tremendous Atlantis pool. Something big. Something green.
Something that loves slow swimmers - for lunch!

So, about the cover being too colorful, I have no opinion. However, I've always found this a very solid GoFS book, and have always enjoyed my re-reads of it. The plot twist (is it a spoiler to say a book has a plot twist?) is extremely fun, and I certainly never saw it coming. It's amazing how it was written, I think.

Tad Hawkins is a bit annoying in his insistent whining in the beginning, but since he's afraid of water and is at a water park/resort, I guess I can't really blame him too much. Though honestly, he's not smart about this, as he was reading Jaws on the trip to the resort, and played a video game called Underwater Terror. Seriously, that stuff can't be helping his phobia.

In any case, it certainly a better book than the cover would normally lead someone to believe, and you should read it whenever you get a chance.
